Developer Advocate - Data
Bruin is a unified analytics platform located in Berlin, Germany that focuses on transformation, data quality, observability, and governance. We provide a comprehensive solution for data management and analytics, helping organizations make informed decisions based on data-driven insights.
Our customers love Bruin for the ease of use, stellar developer experience, and the speed of iteration.
Role
You’ll own Bruin’s developer narrative end-to-end: a hands-on builder who designs and ships code-first demos, examples, and workshops that make ingestr, Bruin CLI, and Bruin Cloud click for data teams. You’ll teach and advocate through talks, tutorials, and starter repos; support users across GitHub/Slack; and turn real-world friction into issues, PRs, and roadmap input.
Working tightly with Product, Engineering, and PMM, you’ll plan and execute launch-ready demos, and continuously refine the developer experience to drive adoption and community growth.
What You'll Do
- Create high-signal content: code samples, blogs, tutorials, reference architectures, videos, talks
- Build starter repos, demo datasets, and end-to-end examples for sources/destinations and CDC
- Run workshops, webinars, conference talks, and community office hours
- Support users in forums/Discord/GitHub; triage issues and improve docs
- Partner with Product on roadmap feedback, DX improvements, and telemetry-driven insights
- Collaborate with Marketing on launches and with Sales on technical evaluations and POCs
- Grow and nurture contributors; recognize champions and case studies
- Implement metrics to track how the developer community is growing and engaging
First 90 Days
- Ship a refreshed quickstart and two production-grade examples (CLI + Cloud)
- Publish a hands-on workshop and a talk-ready demo
- Instrument docs and samples for usage and success metrics
Requirements
- 3–6 years building with data tools (DBs, ELT/CDC, orchestration, BI) and strong public communication
- Comfortable with CLI/SQL/YAML, Postgres/MySQL/MSSQL/Mongo basics, and containerized dev
- Proven content portfolio (talks, repos, tutorials) and habit of engaging developers
- Empathy for users, crisp writing, and ability to turn feedback into issues/PRs
Nice to Have
- Experience with Kafka/Redpanda, dbt, Iceberg/Delta, Trino/Presto, ClickHouse
- OSS community stewardship and contributor management
- Docs tooling familiarity (Sphinx/MkDocs/Docusaurus)
How We Work
- Fast feedback loops; ship small, ship often. We'd like to see artifacts within your first week.
- Tight collaboration with Product/Engineering; PMM is a strategic partner, not just a service desk.
- Bias to evidence: customer quotes, benchmarks, telemetry, and win/loss over vibes.
Life at a startup isn’t always predictable: priorities shift, roadmaps evolve, and we’re constantly learning. If you enjoy moving fast, solving tough problems, and owning your work end-to-end, you will feel right at home.
