As we continue to grow, we're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Payments Team and help build the systems that power monetization at scale.

What You'll Do
- Design, develop and maintain backend services that power subscriptions, virtual gifting and in-app purchases.
- Build reliable and scalable systems processing millions of payment-related events.
- Integrate with external payment providers and mobile platform billing systems.
- Improve platform reliability, performance and observability.
- Collaborate with Product, Mobile, Data and Finance teams to deliver monetization features.
- Participate in architectural decisions and contribute to engineering best practices.
- Monitor production systems and help ensure high service availability.
- Contribute to the evolution of our payment infrastructure as our products continue to scale globally.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional backend development experience.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and scalable architectures.
- Experience building and operating production backend services.
- Experience working with SQL, NoSQL and in-memory databases.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking and communication skills.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
- Motivated to build stable, scalable and highly available systems.
Nice to Have
- Experience with payment systems, subscriptions, billing platforms or fintech products.
- Familiarity with Apple App Store and Google Play billing ecosystems.
- Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and containerized environments.
- Familiarity with monitoring, observability and performance optimization practices.
Engineering Environment
Our backend services are primarily built with Python. However, we value strong engineering fundamentals, system design skills, and experience building scalable distributed systems above experience with any specific programming language.
Our interview process is language-agnostic, and we welcome candidates from a variety of backend backgrounds including Java, Go, C#, Kotlin, Scala, Python, and others.
Location & Work Setup
- This is a full-time contract position.
- Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- During your first month, you'll work fully onsite to get to know the team, products and systems.
- After onboarding, you'll follow a hybrid model: 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.
- Our office is located in the heart of Barcelona, providing an inspiring environment to collaborate and build together.
